No, a VMFS upgrade is not required. If it was it would not matter in most cases, Storage vMotion is now in the GUI and very easy to use.

Hi,

Do I need to move all the VMs to during the upgrading? Will the upgrading wipe out the whole /vmfs/volumes/ and the VMs inside? Thanks.

I've done a few migrations just now, your VM's will still run fine but won't be "at their best" until you upgrade vmtools... keep in mind as soon as you do the upgrade the VMtools installer will restart the VM, so schedule downtime for each VM you upgrade.

Hello,

THe release notes mention a vmtools update is required. Does this mean that the vmware tools must be upgraded once update 4 is applied or is this just a note to say you must upgrade the vmtools package when you get chance?

Thanks
